Varicose Veins

Traditionally, treatment for varicose veins consisted of surgically stripping the vein out of the leg. This required general anesthesia and ivolved long recovery times, scarring, high rates of complication and early recurrences. While "stripping" is today well below the standard of care, varicose veins are still commonly treated without the most effective methods or the experience and specialized skill to minimize risk and minimize outcomes.

Optimal care begins with accurate, complete & specialized diagnostics.

At Deak Vein NJ Clinic, our advanced, comprehensive vein care begins with a complete understanding of the veins. In our in-house, ICAVL-accredited vascular lab, we perform the full range of venous studies. A board-certified vascular surgeon and phlebologist with decades of experience, Steven T. deak, MD, has the advanced skill to accurately map the veins and venous disease... and then resolve your problem quickly.

EVLT: Today's most advanced, effective method of treatment.

To eliminate varicose veins, Dr. Deak typically performs endovenous laser therapy (EVLT), today's least invasive, most effective treatment. Because it is minimally invasive, EVLT has a low rate of complication. Also, recurrence is greatly reduced, because, unlike surgery, there is no trauma to stimulate new vein growth.

How does EVLT work?

After ultrasound mapping of the veins, a tiny laser fiber is introduced into the varicose vein through a tiny puncture. The laser heats the vein's wall, changing its composition and causing the vein to close. The circulation is restored to the leg's deep veins, and the closed vein is eventually absorbed by the body. Complete vein care can sometimes require other forms of treatment, including sclerotherapy, ambulatory phlebectomy and topical laser treatments.

Trust innovation, specialization & experience.

One of the first in New Jersey to earn board-certification in vein care (phlebology), Dr. Deak has helped lead the state in this specialty, including introducing new treatments to the area and helping to train tomorrow's physicians. One of the first in the state to perform EVLT, Dr. Deak is highly experienced and deeply commited to providing the highest standard of complete advanced and compassionate care.
